As ususal, I use scrap clay to form the body. In the first photo, you can see a wooden ”stem” that is the front part of a ship where the figurehead will be placed. I had to start to make the stem in order to have a shape to relate to.
As you can see, the figurehead horse has a curve backwards and also the hind legs follow that curve. The right foreleg hangs right down and will have something in the hand/hoof, what I have not figured out yet. The left foreleg is raised in front of the chest. The horse holds his head high with a proud posture.
