Now on to the next idea. The Dala Horse is one of Sweden’s most well-known national symbols, and Dala Horses are always depicted in much the same way. They are usually red or blue and have special hand-painted patterns called kurbits.
I wanted to do some special kind of Mosebacke Dala Horses. My idea is to make a little sad – blue – Dala Horse and a much happier – red – Dala Horse in polymer clay.
I started with the blue one. Here you can follow the first steps where I created a skeleton of steel wire in a piece of wood, and you can see the first form that I created in scrap clay. In the doming blog posts, you will be able to follow how I create the patterns.
